Family-Owned · Lab Tested · Ships from Arizona
Fine grade black tourmaline powder for home growers, ceramic artists, and wholesale buyers. Lab-tested. Real results. Straight from people who care about what they sell.
We started this because we saw what black tourmaline could do — in our own garden, in our glazes, in the soil. We’re not a big company. We’re a small Arizona family who believes this mineral deserves a better home than a dusty shelf.

The Science
Black tourmaline (schorl) is piezoelectric — meaning it creates an electrical charge in response to pressure and temperature. That charge generates negative ions in water, which appear to activate root cell activity and mineral uptake.
This isn’t folklore. Published research on orchid root development and sweet potato yield shows measurable results. Our product is lab analyzed, near-neutral pH, and free of additives.

We started Tourmaline Powder Co. because we saw what this mineral could do — in our own garden, in ceramic glazes, in the soil. Not because we had a business plan. Because it worked, and we wanted to share it with people who could use it.
Every order is packed by hand. Every question gets a real answer from a real person. We test every batch through IAS Laboratories in Phoenix and share the full report publicly — because we have nothing to hide.
What Black Tourmaline Powder Actually Does
Generates negative ions in water. Black tourmaline (schorl) is a piezoelectric and pyroelectric mineral — meaning it creates a weak electrical charge when exposed to pressure or temperature change. That charge emits negative ions into surrounding water, which appear to increase nutrient mobility and root cell activity.
Releases trace minerals as it dissolves. Our lab analysis (IAS Laboratories, Report #24C0299) confirms Iron at 2.79 lbs/ton, Zinc at 30.09 ppm, and Manganese at 71.97 ppm — all of which are directly plant-available as the powder dissolves in water and soil over time.
Near-neutral pH, very low salts. pH 6.25 and soluble salts of just 0.06 mmhos/cm means it won’t shock your plants, acidify your soil, or cause salt burn — even at generous application rates.
Documented in research on orchids and sweet potatoes. Published studies have shown measurable improvements in root density and branching in orchids treated with tourmaline. Sweet potato yield studies show similar positive effects on root development. This is real science, not marketing language.

Dissolve fine grade in your watering can and apply as a soil drench every 2–4 weeks. Orchid growers consistently report stronger, denser roots within 4–8 weeks.
Fine grade integrates into glaze formulas at 1–3% substitution. Contributes iron-oxide coloring and fires stable at standard cone temperatures.
